Australian Home Brewing was established in 1968 as the first brewery to serve domestic customers. This was almost a full decade before homebrewing was even legal in Australia. In order to avoid being targeted by one of the country's large brewers, early products from AHB were labeled as “supplier of home wine making equipment, supplies & books.” And although brewing had been the center of both commerce and industry for centuries, craft beers weren't substantiated until 1972, when the Whitlam Government passed legislation that finally legalized homebrewing in Australia. So back in 1968 Australian Home Brewing was established out of a garage in Hughesdale Victoria.
